As part of the Africa Downunder Conference taking place in Perth from 3 to 5 September Two World Champions, Eddie Rigg and Rob Healy attended a dinner hosted by Azumah Resources at the Public House, Perth on Thursday night.
The dinner included special guest, three time World Champion Boxer and Member of the International and World Boxing Halls of Fame, Azumah Nelson. Azumah is well known to Australians for the controversially drawn bout with Jeff Fenech on the undercard to the Mike Tyson, Razor Ruddock rematch in 1991. Azumah is widely considered as the greatest African boxer of all time.
Notable dignitaries at the dinner were Mr Rasheed Inusah, Minister from the Ghana High Commission; Mr Fred Soale, Honorary Consul for Ghana from the Consulate of the Republic of Ghana in Perth; The Honourable Mr Nii Osah Mills, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Ghana; Her Excellency Mrs Mercy Debrah-Karikari, High Commissioner for Ghana to Australia; Professor Bruce Banoeng-Yakubo, the Chief Director, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ghana; Dr Toni Aubynn, the Chief Executive Minerals Commission, Ghana; Mr Richard Kofi Afenu, Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Minerals Commission, Ghana and Mr Gordon Chakaodza, Trade Commissioner Austrade in Ghana.
The Africa Down Under Conference, now in its 10th year included a large contingent of African Governments attending with Ministers from South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Lesotho, Gabon, Comoros, Madagascar, Tanzania, Sudan, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cote d`ivoire, Niger, Zambia, Guinea, Malawi, Mozambique and the Seychelles.
