Spot gold was up 0.3% at US$1,908/oz. U.S. gold futures settled up 0.3% to US$1,912/oz.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 222 points, or 0.8%, to 27,46319 and the S&P 500 lost 10 points, or 0.3%, to 3,391. The Nasdaq Composite added 72 points, or 0.6%, to 11,431.
