Spot gold was down 0.5% at US$1,880/oz. U.S. gold futures settled 0.1% lower at US$1,885/oz.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 167 points, or 0.6%, to 29,783, the S&P 500 lost 17 points, or 0.5%, to 3,610 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 25 points, or 0.2%, to 11,899.
